EVERSE 8 Portable Battery Powered Speaker

We’re checking out a brand-new battery powered loudspeaker from Electro-voice, the EVERSE 8. This portable and weatherised speaker is more than capable of delivering high-quality audio for a wide range of use cases from hire and production to education and sports centres. And it’s certainly built for it.
Construction
As the name suggests, the EVERSE 8 has an 8” woofer for plenty of punch, along with a 1” tweeter for the high frequencies with a 100 x 100 degree coverage and 50hz – 20 kHz frequency response. This is housed in a moulded composite cabinet which is reinforced and embraced for a clean, distortion free sound and comes in a black or white finish.
Looking around the cabinet, we have 2 wedge angles for kickback and monitor positions, as well as a top handle and pole mount.
It weighs in at around 7.6KG so, easy to lug about on location and compact enough that you can just pop it in a van or simply store it out of the way when not in use.
EVERSE 8 comes with a removeable battery, with the compartment at the bottom of the speaker. The battery charges inside the cab and gets you 12 hours plus runtime at 95DB and around 6 plus hours at max output at 121+ dB.
The grille is steel with a hydrophobic cloth layer making the speaker IP43 when used with the included weatherproof cover for the rear panel.
Inputs & Outputs
This cover protects all the inputs and outputs at the back of your EVERSE 8. These include an IEC connector for charging and main power, TRS footswitch connector, 12V DC power output, 5V USB C charger port, 2 x XLR combi jacks and a 3.5mm stereo jack.
The 12V DC port can power accessories such as an Electro-Voice RE3 or R300 wireless mic system. There’s even an optional accessory tray for securing your receiver and includes a power port for charging USB devices.
It’s worth noting that the weatherised rear cover doesn’t allow access to the connections on the rear of the speaker. However, EVERSE 8 does support Bluetooth 5.0 true wireless. This means you can stream high-definition audio from your mobile device or computer.
Electronics & Sound Quality
The amp, developed by Dynacord, drives a 4 channel digital mixer with a mode dial and a 1.8” screen for local DSP adjustments. EVERSE 8 delivers 48V phantom power and has a slue of DSP controls, including a ducker, compressor, PEQ, GEQ, Hi-Z input, feedback suppression, voice filters, instrument presets and a programable delay for larger rooms that require more speakers.
