Pathway Connectivity Takes Over the TecZone

Posted on: 6th March 2017

Yet another successful day in the TecZone. Monday 27th February 2017 saw Pathway Connectivity Solutions and City Theatrical take over the TecZone for the first time ever, demonstrating and teaching the limitless capability of Pathway's lighting architainment system.

Pathway Connectivity Solutions manufacture innovative lighting products for a variety of different install markets. Their products are aimed at corporate applications, education, theatres, houses of worship, sports facilities, theme parks, museums, presentation spaces, dance studios, public places and anywhere else you think installed attractive lighting is required. To demonstrate how powerful these systems are, with Pathway you have the ability to control an installed entertainment / architectural lighting system with just a simple and intuitive touch screen wall interface. This Monday, the TecZone was packed with eager industry professionals very keen to learn how they can benefit their customers. Leading the event was Robert Bell all the way from Canada (Director at Pathway Connectivity) and Grant Bailey from City Theatrical in London. We have a great relationship with City Theatrical, who are working in partnership with Pathway to penetrate the UK market. Let's introduce you to some of the kit used on the day...

Cognito²

Cognito² offers easy and intuitive programming that makes control over incandescent dimmers, moving lights and colour-changing LEDs a breeze. Cognito² features a streamlined, natural language interface to guide you through selecting lights, adjusting their attributes, and recording reference libraries, memories and cues.  With up to four universes of control and a new display output for a high definition external monitor, Cognito² doubles up on the capabilities of what is quickly becoming the go-to console for small to medium size churches, schools and other halls of public assembly. Once programmed, the show is played back manually or by using show control, time code or scripting inputs. Cognito² has 2048 outputs, 1024 of which are directly from the console.

Choreo

Choreo uses the same programming philosophy and concepts as Cognito². Choreo provides full-featured, stand-alone programming and playback for DMX512 lighting systems, all in a three-gang wall box.  Choreo’s natural language interface makes the selection of lights, adjustment of their attributes, and the recording of reference libraries, memories and cues fast and simple.  Once programmed, use the screen as a virtual button/fader station, or run shows from time code, serial input or contact closures.

What happened on the day...

On the day the team learnt how to set up their system and control it using the Cognito² and Choreo controllers. The team were split into pairs, each pair with a table in front of them. Robert was at the front of the room with a Martin Pro MAC Aura, demonstrating how the Cognito² and Choreo can control a professional moving light as well as the colours. Each pair used their own Cognito² desk and a CHAUVET DJ SlimPAR PRO H PARcan fixture. They were taught how to program the desk, control the SlimPAR's colour and how to control multiple fixtures at a time.

Further to this, Robert had a wall mount system enclosure at the front of the room, which demonstrated a normal system that would be installed in a venue. This enclosure consisted of a power supply, multiple switches and many EDIN interface cards (used to control the system). This enclosure was similar to the one demonstrated in the video below. The enclosure has two 3-gang cut outs on the front of its removable door - the prefect size for Pathway products. In the video you'll see the Choreo sitting nicely at the top of the EDIN enclosure, used to control your system. Below the Choreo is the Choreo NSB (Network Sliders and Buttons). This is an "analogue" version of the Choreo. Instead of a touch screen interface, the Choreo NSB uses Network sliders and buttons to control your system and is suitable for simpler applications as it lacks some capability when it comes to the more complex systems.

Watch the video below to discover how Pathway's innovation makes sophisticated stage and architectural lighting systems so easy to control.

We'd like to say a special thank you to both Robert and Grant for putting the course content together and making it happen on the day. We'd also like to say thank you to all of our guests that attended, we hope you enjoyed yourselves, enjoyed the food and most importantly learnt something!

Pathway is available to purchase from Leisuretec. If you have any specific applications where you think Pathway will be suitable, please contact our lighting specialists on 01525 850085 and see how we can benefit your business.
