PLASA Embraces The Past, Present And Future At Olympia

Posted on: 13th September 2016

After three years away, PLASA Show is now back in its spiritual home of West London, and taking place once again in its traditional month of September. And these are just the first of many developments, made in response to popular demand, with brand new innovations and an array of high profile speakers ensuring that PLASA Show 2016 is truly not to be missed.Being held at Olympia London from Sunday 18th to Tuesday 20th September, sponsored by Robe, Chauvet, Highlite and Hawthorn, the newly re-focused format of PLASA Show 2016 includes interactive sessions, live demos, technical workshops and console training, while also being true to its roots of highlighting both innovation and people.

Over 200 brands will be showcasing the latest technology, hosting exclusive product launches and sharing their expertise on the show floor, while two seminar streams - sponsored by Hawthorn - will be hosting more than 100 industry-leading speakers in the show’s seminar programme.

In addition to the seminar programme, the show will host a number of interactive workshops. These include lighting console training with Avolites, Chamsys and MA Lighting, a low frequency control tutorial hosted by Soulsound and a day-long session on Dante audio networking, as well as the Art-Net 4 Zone and the Exploratorium. Also hosted by Soulsound and headline sponsor NRG Lighting Community, the Exploratorium incorporates engaging demos and a maze of exciting and thought provoking experiments.

Yet these are only some of the developments which make PLASA Show 2016 an essential experience. An increased emphasis on product innovation sees the return of the Innovation Gallery, sponsored by Velta. An invited team of independent industry experts will also be rewarding the best new product ideas by judging the annual PLASA Innovation Awards.

As well as products and technology PLASA Show is, of course, all about people. A traditional annual meeting place for manufacturers, dealers and end-users for nearly 40 years, this year’s event will feature new networking areas for increased business generation. These include the return of the show party, sponsored by Robe, Arkaos and Production Park, whose theme will be advanced video mapping technology.

“As a trade association, it is our business to listen to feedback from both our members and the industry at large. From that it was clear that exhibitors and visitors alike wanted PLASA Show to return to both a West London venue and September dates,” says PLASA chairman Peter Heath. “Representing an industry that is rooted in the latest technology, PLASA Show also needs to work in parallel with the rapid advancements that have characterised lighting, sound, video and staging over the past few decades.

"We are committed to developing the show and the Association to ensure we are more aligned with not only today’s entertainment technology industry, but tomorrow’s as well. But the heart of this industry is its people; we are also focusing on networking and creating the buzz that has traditionally made PLASA Show a ‘must not miss’ event on the annual trade show calendar.”
