Inside the Void Experience: Demo Day at Studio 338

On a blue-sky day in June, we three (that’s Leisuretec’s Commercial Manager Wayne, Sales Manager Glenn, and Emma from Business Development) find ourselves at Greenwich, east London. Here, beneath the broad glass roof of Studio 338, is the invitation to witness Void Acoustics emulate its namesake and, yes, fill a void in the UK audio market.

The brand has grown sturdy roots in EMEA and APAC territories and is equally huge in the big-club cities of America – Texas and Las Vegas for example – as well as Dubai and Ibiza. In the UK, Void is on the cusp of relocating to new premises in Poole, Dorset, which will be large enough to hold a plentiful supply of stock. There’s Sam Brandon as the newly arrived Managing Director, bringing tons of experience from Harman Professional. Excitingly, too, is a fresh product to tease. It all points to this being the right time for Void to raise its loudspeaker voice, loud, clear and precise. And we’ve come to just the place to hear it...

Since opening in 2014 as a superclub, and then rebuilding after a fire two years later, Studio 338 has collaborated closely with Void. The venue is fitted throughout with bespoke audio, including Tri Motions and an Air Motion system combined with Void’s powerful Stasys subwoofers, to deliver an immersive auditory experience.

Entering this environment, we enjoy a relaxed yet well-structured afternoon-to-night itinerary. Following welcome drinks, we catch up with our contact, Void Head of Sales Andy Rigler, then head to the studio for the first live presentation and product walk-through. Sam Brandon makes his introductions and we also hear from Creative Director Rog who demos about 30 products from a full rig.

We listen to different songs at various frequencies and loudness levels to witness how they perform. A mixture of jazz and dance tracks, plus Adele and Chase & Status hits, stress and strain the speakers in different ways. These demos are mirrored throughout the day for UK customers and multiple nationalities that have flown in from Europe. Void Technical Manager, Tom Osborne, also explains the principles of sound in a one-hour session, tying it to the product range.

It’s then through to the giant club area, the Terrace, where Void has its revolutionary Air Motion sculpted loudspeakers positioned beneath the end-to-end glass roof. Food, networking, a tour and drinks that keep flowing lead to the beginnings of a party with the lights down, the music high, and a live DJ on the decks.

It’s great for us to network with customers and meet some of our suppliers. The event also inspires us to stock more Void going forward. Aesthetically, it’s a unique brand and, over recent years, the speakers have been made to be technically excellent as well. And about that yet-to-be-released product. We’re treated to a sneak peek of new driver technology, born from forging new components together that Void thinks are ten years in advance of the current industry standard for subwoofers. It’ll be big, it’ll be exciting… watch this space!

Our Favourite Void Speakers From The Void Experience

Glenn: ‘I like the Tri Motion with its triangular-shaped speakers. I’ve heard all the others and they sound great but this one has so much clarity and tonality, and the speech intelligibility is to a really high quality. You can hear the really high frequencies, but it’s also really good at outputting the lower and the midst for a complete full-range solution. From an audible point of view it sounds live and can really throw output.’

Wayne: Rog (Void Creative Director) is very passionate and precise about Void’s products and is now completely happy with the Air 12 (coming in Q4 2025). Paired with a new prototype sub, it’s certainly loud but audibly very comfortable to listen to. I like the sound and sonically it hits the spot for me.’

Emma: ‘The Arclite is the loudest sound I’ve ever heard in my life, up to 120 dB. Rog says that he’ll take us massively out of our comfort zone, and when he plays it I can feel my teeth vibrating. It’s extremely impressive.’
