This September PLASA Show returned to West London for its 40th anniversary and celebrated with three fun filled days of seminars, awards and all things tech. You could find the Leisuretec stand centrally positioned right in front of the main hall entrance, along with 10 team members flying the Leisuretec flag ready to greet lots of new and existing customers, suppliers and industry professionals alike.

Year after year Production Plus bring our designs to life and this year’s PLASA Show was no exception. They helped us to create our largest stand to date, with more products than ever and a giant, circular spinning sign above the booth we were certainly hard to miss. Our striking 8 foot diameter circular space graphic made a tradeshow comeback, advertising our trade website and its most recent updates. Alongside that was two video screens promoting the TecZone and our extensive brand portfolio and CHAUVET Professional created a colourful and warm ambience with their range of moving head and ellipsoidal fixtures.

“We’ve supported PLASA for many years and have always designed our stand as a social hub where you’re greeted by friendly faces and a good old chat. And of course a beer” says Charlie Henden, Leisuretec’s Marketing Manager. “We’ve always kept our stands very basic with no product, but as our product portfolio increases it’s important to highlight any key brands and new technology. Products provide a great talking point where we can give our customers technical information there and then and demonstrate the professional physical quality our brands offer.”

The Pioneer DJ DJM-TOUR1 took pride of place at the front of our stand, showcasing its robust and roadworthy design. The DJM TOUR1 is the world’s first DJ mixer to have a 13” fold out touch screen and AES/EBU digital output, which means you can connect directly to front of house, even over long distances, without losing sound quality. Also featuring a 5-port LAN hub, the DJM TOUR1 is as versatile as they come and provides endless possibilities for any touring or arena application.

Alongside the DJM-TOUR1 were products from QSC, Avolites, CHAUVET Professional, Roland, Sennheiser and ChamSys. The ChamSys MagicQ MQ60 looked sleek and compact on its plinth, emphasising how tailored it is to travelling Lighting Designers. ChamSys boasted their MagicQ range in the product training theatre on the Monday, taking a lead in product training at the show. Training was open to everyone regardless of their previous experience, with foundation and advanced sessions.

Team Leisuretec gained a temporary member on the stand this year, none other than Sennheiser’s Kevin Gwyther-Brown (UK Channel Sales Manager) who stood proudly in front of the SpeechLine Digital Wireless range (SLDW). Earlier this year Sennheiser added wireless charging stations, gooseneck and boundary transmitters to the SLDW family. Kev was on hand to demonstrate the new products with his enthusiastic approach.

Whether it was your 1st PLASA or your 40th PLASA, this year’s show really epitomised what this industry is about. There were over 200 different brands exhibiting and it seemed like all of them had something new and exciting to shout about; whether it was an exclusive product launch or a recent brand acquisition, the entire venue came together to share knowledge and educate the industry. PLASA’s Christopher Toulmin commented “The show floor was extremely busy across all three days, there was a tangible atmosphere of urgency and engagement and we’re delighted with the feedback from both our exhibitors and visitors to the show.” All round, PLASA 2017 created the perfect platform for customer and supplier interaction and it has opened the door on many new prospects for Leisuretec.
