Leisuretec Support the Next Generation

Last week Team Leisuretec gained another member! We had the pleasure of working with the Lovely Ciara when she came to complete her Work Experience with us. Ciara spent four days working alongside different departments and learning about everyone’s day-to-day duties within Leisuretec. 

The Warehouse was Ciara’s first stop where she got the full warehouse experience. In the morning, Ollie got her involved with our rolling stock check and booking in deliveries. In the afternoon, she got stuck into picking products out for delivery and producing delivery labels.“Prior to spending the day in the warehouse, I did not fully appreciate the amount of work undertaken in this section of the business or how valuable this department was to the running of the whole company” said Ciara. Steve, Nick & Ollie showed her the ropes and when it came to heavy lifting, Ciara certainly gave the boys a run for their money!!

On day 2 Ciara shadowed the Accounts department where she spent most of her day with Kelly. Ciara was eager to get involved and confident enough to process Card Pays/Payments over the phone as well as using Sage pay to complete payment for Web orders!

Thursday was the day when Ciara got the chance to get hands on in sales. She spent time with various members of the sales team, the morning with Michelle and then the afternoon with Obed & Craig. This gave her a good understanding across the spectrum, gaining experience in front line sales (Michelle & Obed) and also technical sales (Craig). She didn't seem to be phased by anything and in no time at all Obed had her on the phone to suppliers and even taking sales calls from customers - how about that for a third day! Ciara said she really enjoyed her time in sales, she even said "They are not only very talented at their jobs but their characters make them a pleasure to work with". Is she feeling OK?! Of course we're joking, but we definitely agreed with Ciara when she said "even Andy's sarcastic comments are entertaining".

As the week came to an end Ciara spent her last day with the Marketing Team. She got to grips with writing and scheduling social media posts, populating products for our website and she even uploaded an article for the Leisuretec News section. Although we know she had a great time in every department, I think it’s safe to say that Ciara’s favourite part of the day was learning how to use Photoshop with our Photoshop wizard - Andy S. Andy took Ciara through the basics of Photoshop then she was let loose with the mouse; the result of this was a rather questionable photo of Mike, our Managing Director.

We love being able to give young people the opportunity to discover what they would like to do after Education, so it was a delight to have Ciara working with us last week. We wish you all the very best for your future and it’s a great shame that we don’t get to keep you as a permanent member of Team Leisuretec!
