Fog, smoke and haze machines…whats the difference?

Fog machines like CHAUVETS Cumulus expel a mist and it's only once this condenses it turns into the thick visible fog that you’ll see used in theatre productions to create a dramatic or mysterious atmosphere.

Smoke machines on the other hand are designed to produce a denser, more opaque cloud and unlike fog machines, they work by heating up, creating a vapour, and releasing it straight into the air. You’ll typically see smoke machines on movie or TV sets creating “Fire-like” scenes.

And lastly, you’ll find haze machines in nightclubs making lasers and lights more prominent. Haze is almost invisible and it is its lightweight properties that allow the mist to linger in the air enhancing a clubs visual effects.

We stock all three machines from ADJ, Chauvet and JEM – so for more information check out our website now!
