Direct Boxes, often referred to as DI Boxes (Direct Injection) are an essential tool originally designed with a primary function in mind; to take an unbalanced, high-impedance signal, for example from your guitar or musical instrument, and convert it to a balanced, low-impedance signal that can be used by studio and PA electronics.
Whilst there are now more complex versions of DI Boxes, the most basic versions are Passive or Active. A passive DI box does the very basics and is ideal for instruments with strong outputs. It prepares a signal for a standard mic preamp and removes the ground humming that originates from the input stage. An Active DI box, however, includes a preamplifier which provides an extra boost for weaker sources. Active DI boxes require power, often provided via batteries, power supplies or 48V phantom power.
We stock a number of DI boxes from Radial, BSS, dbx and Mackie and support you with competitive trade pricing, knowledgeable technical support and a reliable service.
